I thrifted some fancy floor lamps 😁

I can't find these exact ones for sale, but they're made by a German company called Holtkotter, who do not seem to make cheap things. These ones are older ("vintage"?) and so are halogen, not LED, but still.

from today's outing; two different sets of former Illinois Central locomotives, affectionately known as "deathstars" due to the late railroad's final logo. Photographed from the 211th St Metra Station.

rolls of carpet and clumsily stacked pews decorate an empty church on Chicago's north side, set to be demolished in the coming months.

this weekend's downtown work brought out one of the CTA's work buses. Converted from buses retired out of the everyday transit fleet, they're a fairly rare find 'in the wild'. This one is a 2005 New Flyer D40LF, formerly 1011 in service.

a 'rare' view from the CTA's Loomis Ramp! Originally used to route Blue Line trains to 54th/Cermak, the opening of the Pink Line led to the end of this track's revenue use by 2008. However, due to this weekend's Loop closure, it's briefly back into use to allow Pink Line trains to transfer at Racine

and last, but by absolutely no measure least, the incredible Avalon Regal Theater (1927)

Such a beautiful building, and I'm so happy to see it's not being left to decay.
