Two things. One: I have grown a goblin cucumber. Two: I have learned there is no way to take a non-suggestive picture of yourself holding a goblin cucumber, so please enjoy the cherry tomato for scale instead 🥒

Did slightly better with this massive dahlia and some echinops #bloomscrolling
A bright pink dahlia with dozens of pointed petals surrounded by lush green foliage and some smaller pink flowers that may be verbena, I was too dazzled by the dahlia to check. A cluster of four spiky blue balls of the echinops plant. Three smaller ones have a pleasing ombré effect from deep blue at the middle to light blue outside, while the bigger one in the centre is more lilac, its spikes turning into tiny flowers. The foliage on the right is sage green with brown dead flowers while on the right everything is lush green.

They’re not going to win any prizes but I’ve never grown onions before so I’m quite pleased with these! Debated leaving them in but they’d started threatening to flower and there’s rain in the forecast every day next week so thought I’d make room for some brassicas or something.

Serene green from the forest today for anyone who could use some.

If (when) this fails, simply break into the wardrobe and throw the human’s summer clothes onto the floor, so that you may take their place on one of the shelves, as clothes gain coolness from their position in the wardrobe. The human, who is already a sweaty mess, will enjoy putting them back later.

Staying cool in a heatwave, a guide for cats. Make curved shapes wherever possible so the sunbeams bounce off you. Popular variations include the banana and the crescent moon. The ideal place to do this is right in the middle of a high footfall area. Ignore suggestions to move to the shade.

Have an unintentionally dramatic nasturtium I shot in portrait mode by accident. I think this is Bloody Mary but the seagulls helped themselves to my eco friendly plant markers for nesting fodder so I’m not 100%.

There are a lot of great things about having a roof garden on the coast, but unavoidably watering your own face as well as the plants every time the wind gets up is not one of them. I do, however, have a cucumber flower, so that’s something 🥒 🌼.

Handsome pigeon for the timeline this Saturday.
