Final #DoorsOpenMKE stop of the day was the Manfred Olson Planetarium at @uwmilwaukee.bsky.social . This projector turns 60 years old next year, but is still teaching about the wonders of the heavens the same as the day it went into operation. #Milwaukee

#DoorOpenMKE stop #3 is the Huron Building in downtown #Milwaukee. Got to wander through a vacant and available floor with great views of downtown, Lake Michigan, and the Third Ward. Getting to wander through random liminal spaces like this is part of the fun of Doors Open.

#DoorsOpenMKE stop #2 is the Grand Avenue Club on the corner of Water & Michigan in downtown #Milwaukee. Great org supporting folks facing mental health issues and a gorgeous historic former bank building with a lot of history.

I think tomatoes have the greatest difference in quality between store-bought and freshly picked/grown of any vegetables. The experience of eating a tomato you just picked from your own garden is heavenly. Compared to the "I guess this'll do" experience of eating most store-bought tomatoes.

Mexican Fiesta has evolved into my favorite #Milwaukee lakefront festival. And, not just cuz there are more groups giving away free stuff than any other festival (although, that doesn't hurt). Food options got much better a few years ago and there is so much to see and do.

This is the Menomonee River along Valley Park, just north of the stadium interchange. It normally is flowing well below that railroad bridge (maybe 20 feet below?). In 15 years in the neighborhood I've never seen anything like this. #Milwaukee #flooding #rain.

MMSD is probably going to get flack for sewage overflows, but all my neighbors in Piggsville owe them a debt of gratitude. Without this wall the neighborhood would be under many feet of water right now. #Milwaukee #flooding #rain
