And I deeply enjoy when @robraesideglass.bsky.social meets me at school on his way home from work and yells helpful advice to me from the studio doorway. I definitely wouldn't have got here without his encouragement (and raiding his stash of tools and glass colour and peppering him with questions)

In a few short weeks I've already made some great friends, seen a lot of cool shit (and some really dumb shit too, iykyk LOL) and received a lot of support and generosity from some wonderful instructors+ studio tech.

won't lie- it's been extremely challenging coming back after almost 7 years and joining a week into the second semester of the school year. But that doesnt mean it hasn't been perhaps the most rewarding experience of my long and meandering craft education.

While still very much love kiln forming, I've become increasingly interested in hot glass over the last few years. With the program in peril, I thought I should take a chance and come back to finish my degree- now with a new focus, more perspective and renewed passion.

I had zero interest in hot glass at that time, and if my memory is correct only spent six class hours in the hot shop. ended up leaving the program early when had the opportunity to acquire my own personal kiln studio.

In mid December decided to re-enroll in the Craft and Design program when it was announced the program was put under review as a result of some government changes. While l previously was in the glass program way back in 2014, originally focused on flameworking and kiln forming.

Now that I'm back at school, I can say with certainty that the children love "Thirteen Going on Thirty", and that song is on the soundtrack. I've heard them talk about the movie and the song a few times in the two weeks I've been back
