"Wowee, the Nazis loved their kids" is facile and empty. What you need to ponder is how they came to believe that Jews and other "undesirables" were not as fully human as they were. Because it didn't take hundreds of years of psychic torture. Many people were quite ready to accept the idea.

Human beings are quite malleable, sometimes heroic, sometimes horrendous. That's not new, and it's not a terrific insight if you have met any decent number of people and really learned about them.
People are not the problem.
