In all fairness my family used to have a Halloween decoration that was a skeleton pirate in a cage, and that used to terrify young me.

So without the abstraction layer a giant skeleton pirate in a cage might do me in.

(Also not sure if this is just a problem on my end, but it looks like there's a part two to this message that's being withheld).

Point acknowledged and accepted. Cortez is probably mad scary in-universe, but from player POV I find bone friend more of a goofy/cool mix than spooky. I am, however, *not* made of paper (I think?).

Least picky gamer I know is my mother. She doesn't put as much time into playing games as everyone else, but is willing to try just about any game when she does.

Only other person I could get to play Spiritfarer.

Get this a lot with my IRL gaming buddies. If it isn't by a studio with enough prestige behind it they want nothing to do with it.

Even then it has to be some combination of FPS, survival crafting, or open world.

Consider that through TTYD we know that Mario is both a brave hero (trans ally) and smelly (sewer explorer extraordinaire).

Still, happy that I have the option to play with other people at all. Back when original Air Ride came out it was all CPUs all the time.

Played Top Ride around the holidays and I think there might have been about six players total. Several minute queues between each match.

Felt like we were all taking turns on who got to play the video game.

I don't have anything salient to add to this, just hope you're doing alright (relative to the circumstances).

Rough stuff to deal with even at the best of times.

On a lark tried their frame-gen and upscaling settings to see what it was like and it made it so much worse. The frame count went up to *almost* normal, but gameplay got all sluggish and everything was fuzzy.

If it hadn't been a gift from a good friend I'd have refunded it with prejudice.

Ran into a similar problem playing the copy of Borderlands 4 I was gifted. CPU wasn't good enough for it so I got an unstable 5-20 frames/s so I spent the entire gameplay session getting motion sick.

Moral of the story: games that ran on whatever junk I had laying around are cool because I was able to play them, and games that continue to run on junk hardware are cool because other people with old/cheap computers can play them.

Accessibility is cool. :)

Pre-2020 all of my PC-gaming setups were just whatever laptops or office computers I had been gifted throughout the years. Nary an SSD or dedicated graphics card to be seen.

Played all the stuff I wanted to play though, so it worked out all right.

Like there's a whole load of things that I think would be really cool if they happened but I accept the preconditions haven't quite been met yet. That isn't the case here. We *could* do it, but we don't.
December 22, 2025 at 5:07 AM
This is such an achievable goal that it frustrates me so.

We could all live in an unprecedented era of prosperity if we just shuffled a couple of numbers around. No one's life would be worse for it and almost everyone's would be better.

Can't help you find bnuuy friend directly, but I *can* prophesize about it in a tome that becomes briefly lost to history.

Don't know that it'll help, but it (probably) can't hurt.

Would always try to bite these as a kid, and they would always get uncomfortably stuck to my teeth.

So I don't recommend doing that, even if I will absolutely do it again next time I have a bag.

( Anecdote to the side, Yippee on the discount )

Though if such a game did exist it would be more appropriate if the logo was [Peggle X Rune Factory] with the "X" pronounced as "cross" to mess with people.
December 18, 2025 at 9:42 AM
At a glance thought this said "Peggle Cross Rune Factory" and am now disappointed that this is not an announcement for the peg-shooter / farming-sim the world needs right now.

Conclusion from my scoping: need to play a lot less games. That is, I have way too many games I've launched but never sat down and finished, and I have too many hours in games I play with my friends (nothing personal, but no wonder I'm burnt out).

Would be really cool if I could get my hands on the raw data used to make these recaps so I could chuck them into LibreOffice, but I don't know if the Steam API grants data this granular.

Also want to do a write up about all the cool games I got to play this year, but that's a treat for later... :3

Last for now, getting a NS2 and DK: Bananza plummeted my playtime in August, and Thanksgiving prep + Air Riders did November in.

Also, DELTARUNE is the only singleplayer game on Steam to make up the majority of my playtime for any month ( started and "completed" in June ).

My relative playtime on Linux has increased massively since I started dabbling in 2023.

4% -> 87% | Playtime ( Linux )
10 -> 87 | Games Played ( Linux )
93 -> 9 | Games Played ( Windows )
