Astrophysicist at University College London (UCL). Interested in all things star formation-related, many things not star formation-related, and magnetic fields! All views my own, of course.
Had an excellent time at this last week - it's worth mentioning that the book in question is best viewed through 3D glasses!
Queen guitarist and RAS Fellow Sir Brian May launched a new book last week, co-created with RAS Councillor Professor Derek Ward-Thompson. 🌌📖

RAS Executive Director Ian Russell and Head of Operations Audie Muller were also among the 150 guests at the event.

A very happy Halloween to everyone apart from* the person who recently pointed out to me just how much the Rosette Nebula looks like a skull 💀

Always good to see the Cosmic Bat Nebula out and about! This is one of the most striking examples of an outflow from a young star reshaping the cloud that it's forming in - and in 2023 we found that the outflow is reshaping the magnetic field in the cloud, too! iopscience.iop.org/article/10.3...

One of my very favourite star-forming regions!

Fly to a star-forming region!

Our journey starts in visible light before we switch to an infrared view. Dust blocks visible light, yet in the infrared, we can peer deep into the cosmic clouds of L1688 and study newborn stars.
