I knew David from our days on the FT. I thought him arrogant bordering on the nutty then and the contacts my wife ( Kathleen Newland, co-founder of Migration Policy Institute) had with him confirmed that. His only real achievement was to start Prospect

Good Lord, of course they don’t. They all read Ayn Rand and think it’s a gospel. If you bump into a tech bro, run a mile. Never forget some people in Britain can run a mile in 4 minutes ( H McMillan)

Way back when, in the 80s, as foreign editor I complained that our cozy acceptance of facility trips for travel puff pieces was unethical. Get our foreign correspondents to write them - and pay for the articles. I was laughed out of court. In my book this Weinberg piece should never have appeared
