Question to lawyer friends. Would MUP’s axing of #meanjin on ‘purely financial reasons’ - and, according to the press, refusing to hand it over to potential successors - be cause to challenge its DGR status, on account of prioritising profit motives over its duty to public interest? Just wondering…

I remember puzzling conversations on tax brackets as a child, painting an absurd exploitative system. Then realised, most of those fears echoed in my family were based on ignorance. Wondering - how might we build generalised, in-depth tax literacy, so we can have better informed public debates??

Some days you can do not very much and get depressed about it - or you can do not very much and enjoy it… it’s taken me a while to embrace the second option!

Here’s for a touch of morning optimism, and reflection on deep innovation.
The world’s 280 million electric bikes and mopeds are cutting demand for oil 4x more than electric cars due to their staggering uptake in China and elsewhere.

Still undecided - is Bluesky giving nostalgic joy, or hopeful joy?? In any case, it’s on the joy spectrum. I’ll take that for now 🤪.
