Spring is here! 🌷🐇🐝🦢🦋

A huge thank you to everyone who came out and supported our show! My friends surprised me, my dad brought me flowers, and I sold two original pieces! 🥹

If you didn't get a chance to visit the reception, Flora & Fauna is on view at 701 Whaley until May 12th! #artshow

The final animal in my SC sticker series is the Piping Plover. These cuties are usually around 7 in. and weigh less than 2 oz. This migratory bird spends its winters with us. We must protect their nesting habitats from disturbance. 🏝️

Bewick’s Wren highly resembles our state bird, the Carolina Wren, but is extremely rare. Listed as State Endangered, they are mostly found in brushy thickets, and open farmlands.

I love how round they can be and how they perch their tail so high.

Today I’m highlighting not one, but 2 South Carolina amphibians: the Pine Barrens Tree Frog (Threatened) & the Carolina Gopher Frog (Endangered).

Both are found in SC’s Sandhills region.

Today’s state endangered animal is the Coal Skink, a small lizard found at Sassafras Mountain, South Carolina’s highest peak.

I chose to draw a juvenile coal skink, because their tails are this gorgeous blue that turns to brown in adulthood.

Today’s state threatened animal is the Carolina Pygmy Sunfish! This tiny freshwater fish is only found in the states of SC + NC.

To protect this species, we must protect our streams and fresh water from pollution and habitat fragmentation.

My heart has been with my beautiful (and frustrating) state, and I’m doing what I can to raise awareness for our local South Carolina environment and threatened species.

Today, I’m focusing on the red-cockaded woodpecker, listed as state endangered by the SC DNR.

I am so proud of this show and how it all came together! Meredith, Tennyson, and I share a love of bold colors, patterns, and animals that gives our work a cohesive and complementary feel.

On view now at 701 Whaley until May 12th!

"St. Patrick's Green", my piece inspired by stained glass and featuring 7 species of birds found in Ireland, is finished!

I haven't felt this proud of a painting in a long time and it feels so good.

Here’s some sneak peeks of my 16x20” work in progress! Inspired by stained glass and featuring Irish birds, this is the largest piece I’ve worked on in some time! I’ve been enjoying it immensely.

It’s been a while since I did an Acryla gouache x colored pencil piece. I always forget how much I enjoy the textures! This piece is called “Fly by Thy Wisdom” and features a Hook-Billed Kite.

Sharing some stills + closeups of this piece I’m calling “I Disregard Your Earthly Treasures”

I’ve been keeping an eye out for these beauties while in Ireland, but I think it’s still too cold + early for them to be about. (Still crossing my fingers though🤞)

January felt simultaneously like the longest and shortest month in history. 🫠 I’m finding comfort in my animal companions and tender middle-grade books.

I think We Could Be Rats takes the lead as my favorite!

What was the best book you read in January?

Omg!!! Yes they’ve had top shelf priority on my bookshelf for YEARS and my UK paperback editions just came in a few hours ago! They are stunning! Who’s your fav character? Mine’s dustfinger!
January 25, 2025 at 2:29 AM
I ❤️ to read high fantasy, sci-fi, generational epics, + middle grade fiction.

You can usually find me painting, cuddling my cat, watching Ghibli movies + Dropout, + playing DnD! My favorite games are ACNH, Stardew Valley, + BotW. I’m a Virgo INFJ 4w3.

Do we have any in common?

Hi #booksky! A lot of you might not know that when I’m not painting, I’m the Creative Director and a bookseller for a local indie bookstore! I have a reads account where I post my reads, recs, and ARC reviews. Going to try and be better about bringing those here, too. 📚

Introducing my Egyptian Scarab Beetle painting! 🪲 I love these little guys. Ever since I saw the Ancient Egypt exhibit at the MET Museum, I haven’t been able to get these patterns and colors out of my head!
