Artist, writer, sneaker of vegetables into children's food. Originally from Olympia, Washington. Transplanted in Kapellen, Belgium.
Dahlia that just started blooming. A mystery tuber from the Kapellen Sunday market marked "light purple". I know that when they have something labeled as a certain color or type, you can't really trust it 😃. Pretty one though! I lucked out.

I've started a (sort of) crazy Julie challenge of reading all 75 "Inspector Maigret" books by Belgian author Georges Simenon. Stopped in #tulibris a great English second hand bookstore started in 2015 near Brussels. Picked up a few (and a couple other books)

Purrsday! it's been hot here for May, like my dahlias are already forming buds kind of hot. A few days in the upper 80s. We've been enjoying the air conditioning installed in the living room in the fall. Look at Squirrel's face. She's so comfortable sitting right near the cool air flow 😸

Sir Winston Churchill daffodils blooming in this old ceramic pot saved from the junk pile at Dominique's work. The flowers smell amazing!

A little mint moth tucking in for the night in a dahlia sprout. This is a very wee moth with beautiful markings.

Dahlia de la Cerda's "Reservoir Bitches" is a great collection of short stories, most interconnected, all that take place in Mexico with strong women main characters. Quick, read, raw and quirky.

Did I pack a 47 lb bunny sculpture and add it as an extra suitcase this last trip from the US to Belgium...maybe 🐇

You just can't find this stuff over here.

Something bright and positive: daffodils. I tried to tuck in as many different kinds as possible in the fall into pots, buckets, and the ground.

The Queens of Crime by Marie Benedict. Mystery writers Dorothy Sayers, Agatha Christie, Ngaio Marsh and others solve the murder of a young English nurse in 1930. It was a springboard to discovering other books to read, and peeking into the lives of these ladies. Fun one.

Read two memoirs by PNW musicians recently: The Harder I Fight, the More I Love You by Neko Case and Rebel Girl by Kathleen Hanna. One, earthy and humble (Case), the other, angry and raw (Hanna). Both interesting reads. I found myself enjoying Case's stories most.
