Biden pulled American troops out of Afghanistan and got endless crap in the media with very little credit for having the guts to do it.

I was just thinking that. It’s Pleasantville except Tobey Maguire’s character rejects personal growth to be a neo-Nazi.

The reality is, for a certain type of person, “male” and “white” and especially “white make” is neutral. It’s the norm. It’s standard. And anything else is a deviation. They do not question the standard, only the deviation.

And he turned to me and said, “Why do all the female members have female press secretaries?” I was caught off guard and mumbled some reply. But that has (obviously) stayed with me. Because I knew he’d never say that if a room full of male Congress members had a room fully of mostly male staff.

I think the logic would be that Republicans have to fully own the weight of their policies with being able to shift blame to “Democratic obstruction”. Not sure I agree but that’s my guess.

Police misconduct settlements can cost millions, but departments rarely feel the impact
Though multimillion settlements often make headlines, departments and individual officers feel very little financial impact of alleged misconduct.

And then this is a total cop out. “I appreciate I have no evidence for the attack I made. What I meant was something else. The point is Democrats are bad”

I accept the criticism that I didn't name an individual who is both vocally pro-Plantar and anti-Mamdani. What I had in mind is the overall volume of Nazi tattoo apologetics and Islamiphobic smears popping up in the ostensibly anti-that-stuff coalition, including with bad "electability" arguments.
The fact that some prominent Democrats defend a Maine Senate primary candidate’s Nazi tattoo while he isn’t even leading in polls, but not defend a NYC mayor primary winner from false smears even as he’s leading general election polls says a lot.

That doesn’t seem driven by voter preference.

I’m old enough to remember when we got a “free” plane from Qatar that will cost taxpayers $1billion to upgrade.
