Our criminal justice system faces crisis. The recent gov. sentencing review is welcome, recognising the substance use sector, accessible accommodation post prison & treatment pathways for women. Yet, commitment to invest in community sentences/services remains absent.

The Gov's recently announced reforms propose to cut £5bn from welfare. Framed as supporting people transition from benefits to employment, it sadly lacks focus on tackling root causes by building sustainable & holistic support across health, social care, housing & benefits. bsky.app/profile/turn...

Recently, ONS released their latest data on alcohol related deaths – with figures rising to 10,473, the highest on record. We need to adopt a system-wide response to alcohol harm, addressing it as a public health issue; the upcoming spending review needs to prioritise the issue.
