I came back to this painting because something about it didn’t feel right. Everything was too uncanny before, too defined. I like it better now, her face looks more honest.

Feeling a bit funny today. I’m thinking about the number of masks that I have donned in my life and how I feel like a shell. It comes out of a place of fear, of being rejected, unloved and ostracized. Not sure where this is going but maybe out of this negative energy something worthwhile will emerge

We drove home after a rainstorm and the sky was so magnificent with sun rays peaking out behind the clouds. I felt compelled to paint the moment to capture that feeling. I started the underpainting to work out the values. Looking forward to finishing this project. #grateful #underpainting
