My current goal is targeting the correct pre-tax and post-tax retirement savings to minimize any RMDs.

My FRA SS benefits put me over a lot of the tax-free limits as is. RMDs will just suck even harder. Plan is to invest in things with cap gains rather than income, then pay when I must.

Thanksgiving is just a few days away! Not to late to adjourn!

Pretty much everyone knew he was going to tank the economy in 2Q25 or 3Q25, so I'm actually not surprised it's bad.

My only question is why wasn't it worse?

He’s likely trying to improve ad revenue because people are canceling their subscriptions.

Little known fact - calendars can be reused every 28 years!

I understand it just fine.

Alaska's Permanent Fund is money that came from other Americans via royalties on Alaskan oil. If all 50 states did that to each other the net would be zero.

Also, bye!

President Musk and VP #NotMyPresident.

Pass it on.

If there's any actual effort at cutting required and recommended vaccinations the EU would be stupid not to do that.

This is a dumb game you're playing, and I refuse to pay.

You people trot out things like the APF, but the APF is maybe enough for school clothes, not "creatives" to go become "creatives" instead of being wage slaves.

It is NOT any kind of income. It's a tax rebate of sorts paid by other Americans.

Little known tidbit - the darker colored fur happens where the body is cooler.

This doesn't mean you can raise an ordinary white cat in giant warehouse freezer. No, no, do not do that.

Anyone following along who wants to turn the annual dividend into an hourly wage increase can just divide the amount by 2080 hours per year.

For a family of 4 with 2 wage earners it's about $1 per hour, average-ish.

And remember - funded by oil and gas royalties.

In all seriousness, my plan for "win lottery over $500M" is to create a foundation to revitalize urban residential areas to make more urban housing gentrification-proof - hold liens on properties so gentrifiers can't snatch them up, and train people to renovate them and create clean communities.

I think it's tied directly to self-esteem, and that's tied to kindness.

People with high degrees of kindness want to be good role models (I'd assume), and that requires a lot of self-improvement and self-care.

That's my theory. I should win the lottery so I can study it ;)

I first saw this effect - bullies aging badly - at my 20th high school reunion when we were all 38 or so. Many of the worst offenders were in worse shape than a lot of 50 year olds.

The kinder guys and gals looked much closer to our ages, and they didn't.
December 6, 2024 at 1:33 PM
Most of the boys I went to school with now look like they're over 60, because we're all over 60.

I do believe bullies, as a class, age worse because they have worse self-esteem and take less care of themselves. How old -- about -- are you?

I've been researching UBI-like-ideas for about 40 years.

So, yes, that's how I go about voting. Extensive research and questioning politicians about their beliefs and the validity of them.

The Alaska Public Dividend is a horrible example since it's barely any money, and isn't stable.

It's also not money-from-thin-air, it was founded using oil and gas revenue, not "we saved money with robots".

Mechanical and technological innovation has been going on for literally thousands of years.

"But this time everyone will lose their jobs!"
-- Someone when steam engines were invented.

"Outlaw the self-cleaning plow!"
-- Some farmer, somewhere.
