I won't get too in the weeds about it I promise but ... The Supreme Court in Brazil has gone above and beyond to, they say, protect democracy in recent years and it's led to a great expansion of their powers - @jacknicas.bsky.social explained it well here www.nytimes.com/2024/10/16/w...

Interesting timing on this bc just a couple weeks ago the entire Bolsonaro base was celebrating the results of the US election as if it were a harbinger of their own victory.
