"Use a phone; knock on doors". Love this job ad.
I’m hiring a reporter for London Centric, looking for someone smart who can use a phone, knock on doors and wants to cause trouble. Don’t care if you’ve got qualifications, just want evidence of caring about news. Initial six month contract, pay above national rates. www.londoncentric.media/p/jobs

Blue Peter's last ever live show was yesterday. Amazing memories of appearing with my school class in 1969. The BP pets in the corner of the studio + Noakes pacing around trying to learn his lines — editor Biddy Baxter wouldn't allow autocue.

Spotted on a Facebook group which features images of old vehicles. Perhaps this unfortunate image sums up what local print/online journalism has become today. #Reach plc.

Agreed. This was well worth watching.

Michael Sheen’s Secret Million Pound Giveaway review – this Robin Hood heist is a total inspiration
The Welsh actor is rightly indignant as he meets people struggling with debts in his home town … then devises an elaborate ploy to pay them off using his own cash. You can’t help but root for him

Can't believe it's 10 years since BBC political correspondent Norman Smith morphed into the EastEnders theme on BBC News.
(Might include a bit of embellishment from me).

Well done to the lady who complained to IPSO about Reach plc's clickbait headlines.

RIP Johnnie Walker. In this recording I made 37 years ago at "Driftback 20", Johnnie talks to John Burch about his career and that momentous broadcast on Radio Caroline as the Marine Offences Act came into force, and how he felt when he eventually knew it was all over.

Saddened to hear of the passing of Johnnie Walker, one of my radio heroes. Honoured to meet him briefly in April 1989 on a boat on the Thames as BBC GLR celebrated the 25th anniversary of Radio Caroline.

Just spotted a breaking news alert on my local Reach title. "What is this major story affecting Cheltenham?", I pondered.
Ah yes, it's about when the Coca Cola truck is going to Cribbs Causeway, 45 miles away.

Fantastic to watch #pickleball being played earlier at @eastglos.co.uk #Cheltenham. They've recently introduced the sport to complement their existing racket sports offering.
It's a sport for everyone, easy to learn and low impact, so it's easy on the joints!

Just made the mistake of trying to read an article on a Reach plc website on my phone (usually use an adblocker on my PC).
I'd forgotten how impossible it is.

Just done this. My username is now one the domain names that I own — easier to remember and verified.

💡 Tip: You can set your website as your username on Bluesky!

This is one form of self-verification, and we especially encourage official organizations and brands to do this! Examples include @npr.org @react.dev @duolingobrasil.com.br.

Honoured to film the #Remembrance Service in Bishop's Cleeve, #Gloucestershire once again. A large turnout, as ever.
