It’s me.
I never considered that. I’d like to know more, but I feel like you already explained it well in this context, so thank you.

I used to post like that and I’m working to get back to that. Good insight.

Similarly, talking to people who constantly engage in bad faith will erode your ability to have a normal conversation, because you'll be constantly on the defensive and trying to head off potential ways to attack your thesis via a side issue or minor inaccuracy.

If the author was looking for a hard bitten angle he could’ve gone with “maybe McCarthy was more like the villain in his stories than the hero.” He could’ve saved the purple stuff for Cormac’s image vs the sordid reality, etc. I bet that would’ve worked out better for his fame and fortune too.

It was very sticky for me, and Musk had to make it truly terrible for me to leave. At the end I remember thinking something like why am I going on the Feel Bad app, I can feel bad all by myself.

CNN had this take when DOGE was 1st reported. I agree with it.

To explain: Vivek and Musk, while ideologically compatible (mostly), are threats to Trump’s cult of personality. And Trump does not share the spotlight. He could’ve given them cabinet roles. This is his “ambassador to Siberia” goodbye.

I suspect that the Republican Senators will end up being our bulwark against authoritarianism. Not because they are moral heroes but because a deal where they cede power to Trump, for nothing, is a bad deal, and they are savvy enough to know that “trust Trump to do right by you” will end in tears.

It seems like “literary muse” is becoming synonymous with “person with whom you have an affair.” Like ex-bf or ex-gf but more impersonal. In which case the whole “muse” styling is unnecessary and honestly kind of silly, a pointless euphemism.

I feel like it’s worth saying (if it’s not too ponderous) that there’s video of Trump in the 80’s saying he’d like to run for Prez. And the source of the “Obama made him do it” story is… Roger Stone, who knew it would play well with the base and has a trustworthiness score of 0%.
