Carer & Disability Rights, Conservation & Re-Wilding plus a bunch of other things I think would be really good for most people and the planet - they tend to be the same thing, funny that!

I can't make up my mind if they're complacent or ignorant. I'd have hoped the last 14 years would've taught them some lessons about social media manipulation, bothsidesism, etc - lessons hammered home by Trump / Musk. You don't win any arguments preaching to the choir!

The NHS costs billions BECAUSE politicians have been out-sourcing services that used to be in house to their pals and donors while whittling away at the role of non-pharmaceutical treatment modalities because 1) they don't make money for Big Pharma 2) they can actually CURE some health conditions.

Hmm yes, but unlike other countries we don't own our 'national' parks which are overwhelmingly owned by private individuals and corporations. Huge areas are given over to monoculture forestry, grouse shooting and other practices that are incredibly bad for biodiversity. We need radical change NOW!

Phillipson assumes that schools are safe - which IME isn't true for SEND/ neurodivergent/ LGBTQ+ children because 1) decades of underfunding and 2) failure to recognise that a safeguarding policy is a useless bit of paper - unless its consistently implemented by well informed & motivated staff

4/ This 'Protected Landscapes duty' was enshrined - following a LOT of campaigning by groups like @wclnews.bsky.social @campaign4parks.bsky.social - into the Levelling Up Act passed by the last govt.

However, it doesn't yet have full legal force - until the govt pass regulations to this effect.

3/ Thirdly, Labour have announced they will lay regulations to ensure landowning public bodies & water companies have a strong 'Protected Landscapes duty'.

This means they have to 'seek to further' the purposes & Management Plans of National Parks & National Landscapes:

2/ The Government have also announced they will "revamp governance" of National Parks & National Landscapes.

That has to mean changes to the Boards that govern NPAs/ NLs - too many of whom lack diversity, and, in my view, over-represent landed interests:

Are landed interests over-represented on England’s National Park Authorities?

IME mindful use of pacing techniques can be a lifeline to better management. BUT these work from a place of compassionate self-respect, if theyre to help at all Theyre the polar opposite of GET, the very idea of which sows the seeds of self-hatred & denial of what your body is telling you it needs.

GET - an idea dreamed up by idiots to brainwash people with ME/CFS/LC into thinking they're only sick because they're not trying hard enough to be well. It's cruel, abusive and extremely likely to negatively impact sufferers' mental health compounding their already devastating physical condition.

Funny how there's never any headlines about the £20 billion in UNCLAIMED benefits each year. Or anyone floating the idea a small fraction might go to helping people access the benefits they're entitled to. I suspect it gets spent inventing devilish new ways to make forms even more intimidating.
