“Bad for Health” —From the 2016 Bartkira art show at Gallery Nucleus celebrating the Bartkira comic project, a mash-up of the Akira manga with characters from The Simpsons.

A back view of a teenage Bart Simpson doing a skateboard trick in mid-air above a large mass of fleshy blobs with tendrils and mechanical parts snaking along the ground. Bart is wearing red gloves and a red jacket similar to Kaneda’s outfit from Akira, but Bart’s jacket features an image of a carton of “malk” with the words “BAD FOR HEALTH” and “GOOD FOR EDUCATION” around it. The bottom of his skateboard has logos of various brands featured in The Simpsons (Mr. Sparkle, Duff Beer, and Buzz Cola) as well as an atom symbol and a nuclear symbol representing Radioactive Man. The fleshy mass on the ground has a segment reminiscent of a donut with sprinkles, yellow pointy triangles like the hair of Lisa and Maggie Simpson, and a lumpy blue segment reminiscent of Marge Simpson’s hair.

I found my old files from that Netflix prop design test from a few years ago so I decided to finally finish these designs! The prompt was to design a lunchbox with an accompanying sandwich, fruit, and snack. I went with a nautical/fisherman theme 🐟
A lunchbox in the shape of a wooden lobster trap with a strap made of rope. A few barnacles and a starfish are stuck to the outside of the lunchbox. Two fishing lures hang off of the strap like bag charms. A sandwich consisting of a pufferfish on a bed of seaweed inbetween two halves of a Cheddar Bay biscuit. A sea cucumber is stuck onto the top of the biscuit with a toothpick that has a small nautical flag at the end of it. An orange with a single slice taken out alongside the single slice and a thermos in the shape of a lighthouse. An old, beat-up tackle box filled with saltwater taffy, gummy worms, and Swedish Fish, with a closeup view of the candies.
