I may be wrong and the market may have changed as the form becomes more apparent in the industry - I would love to think so!

I would say, looking at the evidence in the industry, that it's rare. Also, this was v much the message I received when I was writing my debut, which I had originally conceived of as a novella.

Same - I actually loved it when it was a bit less populated in the 80s!

The problem is that advances with Big 5 are so variable. Without a fixed figure to compare digital first to, the question can't be answered definitively. What is predictable, is the percentage cut the writer gets with digital first publishers, tho of course sales themselves can't be predicted.
