We DO NOT have firm evidence 1.6 million immigrants have left the US. This estimate come from the Current Population Survey, which has a small sample size & lots of uncertainty. & it could just be that immigrants are less willing to answer government surveys. More www.usatoday.com/story/news/n...

ICE's press release on arrests is misleading. The correct comparison for ICE's 32,809 arrests in the first 50 days of the Trump administration (average of 656/day) is the 113,431 total ICE arrests last year (average of 311/day). Comparing total to at-large arrests is apples & oranges.

Amid many deportation numbers floating around to give context to the incoming Trump administration's "mass deportation" plans, the relevant number is deportations originating with an ICE arrest - interior deportations. Those have never risen above 238,000/year in recent history.
