Got to Talbot Green (more by luck than judgement) and was able to get the Edwards bus to Treforest in time for the Aberdare train. Which seems not to have run. Killing time in the pub again.

I'm on the later bus. As I'd predicted, we passed the broken bus at the edge of Pencoed. The lady who decided to take her chances and stay on when it pulled away from Coychurch is now back in the game. As the Good Book doesn't say, 'the First Bus shall be last'. What an amazing fuck-up all round!

I think the White Horse at Coychurch has set a new Welsh record: £2.45 for half a pint of Pepsi Max.

The replacement for the broken bus has just gone past. The one it's meant to be replacing left the minute another guy and I got off. The driver didn't say anything to us - he just drove away. It's probably sitting in another bus stop further along the route waiting for the mechanic to arrive.

At least while Cubieverse was a thing I could have spent some time mapping the village.

This has turned into a total shitshow. Still, the pub is open and, despite the name, the village of Coychurch has a very bold church.

I'm somewhere in Bridgend County Borough. The bus has broken down and the alternative went past a few minutes ago. This is why people don't use public transport in Wales.

Made it as far as the Plough and Harrow at Monknash. Pub lunch was excellent - buses less so. Weather didn't look great either. I cut my losses and now I'm heading back home the long way round.

This idea seems to have crashed and burned. No sign of the onward bus yet and it should have left seven minutes ago.
