Slightly secretive Sydneysider. 🎥 🎶 🍳 🐕

I know a tiny amount about many things so I guess that makes me a scatty fox rather than a deep-thinking hedgehog.
The latter half of that article has some excellent points. The first bit seems to descend into anecdote and potentially conspiracy theory. It felt a little odd to have both together.

It is great but I wish PTA had been a bit more restrained with it - layering it under some of the dialogue takes away from both script and music occasionally.

(Although I guess that’s a decent reason to re-watch).

Also, I should go buy the soundtrack.

Lovely dog.

There’s only one work specifically written for Octobass, Gounod’s “Messe solennelle en l’honneur de Sainte-Cécile”. AFAIK there are only 2 of the instruments in regular use - ons in Canada and one in Germany.

Australian ancient plumbing here (1876 house). My husband has never learned this. Fortunately I have made him responsible for any plumbing disasters.

This is the way. I’m currently on my second cup before aftering.

It’s a good show. And then you get to the last episode and remember who suffered the consequences…

I think he’s got a more urgent goal.

But it is a good bakery. One of the few places on the Hume with anything edible.

Yeah this is not good.

There are many ways for retailers to solve their problems without deploying biased racial-discriminatory algorithms to solve them.

The vendors will argue the systems aren’t biased. NIST testing disagrees.

That’s a great face.

No, he was always way over on the conservative side of things. When he was at the ABC he didn’t get a lot of opportunity to say barking mad stuff but you could see it in the way he phrased questions from time to time. I stopped watching the ABC whenever he was on.

There is no “unchecked rise”. Large Language Models can never become “superintelligent AI” and - except for snake oil salesmen like Sam Altman and Mark Zuckerberg - nobody who works in the field believes we’re even remotely close to anything based on working world models.

It’s a con.

Same. I dread the task. But I guess now it must be done.

Every now and then I think the NCC is extinct. But no, it staggers on.

I thought the music was utterly inappropriate- every time it started up it pulled me out of whatever was going on in the show.

Did the first episode. Will not be doing more.

There’s an artist’s oil colour called “cobalt turquoise” (hideously expensive) and this is more or less that. Neither green nor blue.

It’s vaguely amusing how stupid he is.

Any idea how he pays for all of this?
