Text by me reading: So now they're starting wars To make sure we don't forget them But all it's going to leave us with Are lasting anger and frustration The deepest betrayal of our elders — Our families — our silent fathers, our overbearing mothers, Our creepy uncles and fun uncles, Nitpicky aunts and fun aunties as well — Bosses, managers, teachers, leaders, colleagues, mentors, role models, Idols, trusted sources, media, journalism, establishments — The people who raised us to think and react to the world and View it — apparently through such a warped lens — Were all, deep down, ready to burn it down with them So there's nothing left for us — They've consumed it all, And us in turn — Their children, grandchildren, Nieces and nephews, employees, students, Followers, colleagues, mentees, motivations and inspirations — They told us — they told us — they gave us trophies And mocked us for accepting the slivers of love they offered Like treats to calm a Rabid Old Yeller
