I draw the parallel to the Busby Berkeley musicals of the 30’s, whose glittery romance contrasted with the fraught reality of the Great Depression.

These are perilous times which brings me to the reason I read have always romance: I need to know a happy ending is possible.

The plots are as bland as the covers.

My 2 reactions to NY this year have been boredom or irritation. This episode finally felt real with Erin and Jenna sharing their stories, Erin meeting with her papa to tell him her story (knowing he would pass soon after) and Raquel showing she could activate on the stupid prank. Is there hope, NY?

In the last year I have done the following at my library: voted, had business meetings, met my book club at the coffee area, read The NY Times daily, been given free flower and vegetable seeds for my garden, borrowed a sewing machine and yes, checked out a ton of physical and audio books.

Have you read many romance books where the FMC finds herself pregnant and decides to have an abortion? Romance does not reflect real world on this issue (although hot aliens is not a real world hot issue either)
