no matter what their intentions were vshojo failed massively and it’s because they weren’t profitable and refused to admit it to anyone and managed to keep things quiet to stop the talents from discussing it with each other so it’s unlikely a system like theirs will ever work
July 26, 2025 at 5:33 PM
the truth is there are problems with all companies and corporations no matter what they are because the current state of the world requires them to put money first before people otherwise they can’t function which is a real shame
July 26, 2025 at 5:33 PM
like vshojo was stealing merch money, sponsorships and charity funds because they couldn’t get themselves out of the red from at least 2023 that were currently aware of they were stealing money from the talents so they couldn’t pay other people hoping no one would notice
July 26, 2025 at 5:33 PM
a lot of people don’t realise just how many people need to be paid for merchandise (artists, manufacturers, shipping etc) as well as the staff behind the scenes before it can reach the talents and that’s just one example there’s a lot more
July 26, 2025 at 5:33 PM
i think tbh it’s extremely unlikely

when you think about the two major companies holo and niji they both require the talents to pay for their own projects and they only fund company wide ones as well as taking a large chunk out of merch etc BECAUSE they need the money
July 26, 2025 at 5:33 PM
it’s by far the worst scandal in the vtubing industry as a whole and i doubt anything could outdo it
July 25, 2025 at 6:19 PM
they are by no means the only corpo to do something incredibly fucked up there are so many smaller vtuber agencies who have done a bunch of terrible shit but vshojo is the only one this well known and large to do something this terrible
July 25, 2025 at 6:19 PM
tldr vtuber companies do have issues they are companies at the end of the day and you should be suspicious of all corporations

however niji and holo have never had issues in regards to paying people any where near the scale of vshojo what they did was catastrophically evil

harassment campaign

hololive did a lot to protect coco at the time and ended up shutting down the chinese branch as a result but coco later graduated because she wasn’t comfortable staying in that environment because she was getting more harassment because people blamed her for that branch closing
July 25, 2025 at 6:16 PM
doing no matter what that is in order to join the company

with ksons pl it was a very complicated case of a harassment campaign that started when she stated taiwan is a country that turns out to have a lot of the hololive chinese branch girls involved as instigators of perpetrators of the-
July 25, 2025 at 6:16 PM
it’s actually more complicated than that on all sides (except for vshojo they were just losing money and thought no one would notice)

for niji and holo joining means you become exclusive to them because that’s how japanese vtuber companies run so it’s a case of giving up what you’re currently-

This is not correct by the way. NDAs are technically / legally speaking "assets" the company owns. If the company folds, some bank or whatever will buy or come into possession of the assets, NDAs included. Doesn't mean the new owners will care to pursue it, but the point is NDAs are NOT voided.

not just sending over the charity money right away is a decision so insane it hurts my head trying to think of a justification lol. like it is morally bad of course but also it puts your biggest talent in a position where she is forced to publicly destroy the company
July 23, 2025 at 7:41 AM
i might be misunderstanding it but that’s what i’ve gathered from my understanding and if that is the case then that’s what i’m not surprised about

tbh i’m appalled that they held onto half a million that was meant for charity that is truly abhorrent
July 22, 2025 at 4:38 PM
after listening to ksons stream it sounds like instead of taking a cut of their pay they were holding onto everything which is why the subathon funds were never sent to the idf because it was held up in that same account
July 22, 2025 at 4:38 PM
i think you misunderstood me what i meant was i definitely never would’ve predicted this to happen but from the sounds of things they have been failing to pay talents for a long time and the charity was an unfortunate victim to their shady business practices
July 22, 2025 at 4:38 PM
the fact they always tried to present themselves as "the good corpo" or like they were basically a collective of indies always rubbed me the wrong way like really i don’t think i’m that surprised this has happened which is a really unfortunate thing to say
July 22, 2025 at 10:52 AM
it feels like they were trying to ignore it for as long as they could and pretend everything was fine which presents a concerning double standard if the rumours are true and has unfairly held someone’s job in the balance if they’re false

part of the reason i’ve been taking a break from vtubers tbh
