Yeah after the news of cap going up I'm not even against extending Pionk. Given the history of defencemen deployment, I'm not trusting the organization to give Salomonsson the chance he deserves if there are veteran options available (or bigger and meaner...)

Please don't jinx it... I've only gotten over the LD blockage of the past years. I couldn't take it anymore if they extended Pionk and also got a borderline 3rd pairing RD on a contender with term to block any way for Salomonsson to develop in the coming years.

To be fair, Heinola might not even be a downgrade from Ristolainen. After all, he hasn't been given a chance to be a regular NHLer by Maurice, Bowness or Arniel. Heinola would bring some skill and puck-movement to the group.
