Bought pastries and pie, but the deli was closed, so headed to Jackson Market, a hidden gem in a residential area. The sandwiches were amazing, and I regretted buying the baguette at Helms when I saw the deli's bread. Next time!

Helms Bakery has reopened after many years. I remember the bread truck that came through our neighborhood when I was little. The bread man, Cal, would toot the horn and had an old-fashioned change maker on his belt. I still recall the smell when he opened the pastry drawer.
