And that’s exactly why we need more women in politics — and fewer guys trying to shame us out of it.

What I did do was make a deeply personal decision after years of service, reflection, and sacrifice: to be present for my family. If that makes me a “quitter” in his eyes, so be it. In my eyes, it makes me a mom and leader who knows her worth. (5/6)

… and tried to explain to him that mama was trying to make his city better when he asked why I was leaving again and again. That’s not quitting — that’s leading. What’s weak is trying to shame a mom for being one. (4/6)

Let me be clear: I stayed on through the end of the budget season, fought for safer streets, language access, affordable housing, and Somerville’s values. I responded to constituent emails at midnight after Isaac went to bed…(3/6)

Case in point: a supporter of Emily Hardt’s opponent (who lost his own race for elected office and can’t seem to understand why) sent around a letter calling me a quitter for stepping off the City Council to spend more time with my 2-year-old. (2/6)

I’m so excited to hit the ground running! 🏃🏻‍♀️

But I kept going. 5Ks, 10Ks, half marathons… and eventually the 2018 Boston Marathon.
Running changed my life.
Now, I get to help make the sport more inclusive, accessible & joyful — with the very organization that started it all for me. Let’s go! 💙💛

12 years ago, I started running a week after the 2013 Marathon — not for me, but for Boston.
I failed the mile test in PE class. I never thought I’d call myself a runner.

I'll continue showing up as your neighbor, advocate, and cheerleader for Somerville’s future. See you around the city 💜

Thank you for your partnership, trust, and commitment to this city we love.

I'm proud to support Emily Hardt for Ward 7 and Mayor Ballantyne for re-election. Experience and compassion matter—and they’ve got both. (And no, I’m not related to the other Pineda in the race!)

The city needs her strong leadership and her steady hand at the helm. I’m proud to endorse Mayor Ballantyne and look forward to voting for her again this year!

From leading us through the aftermath of the COVID pandemic to increasing the schools’ budget when other communities are making cuts, Katjana has always been out in front looking out for Somerville.

Thanks to all with @cityofsomerville.bsky.social who planned our Memorial Day parade yesterday! Isaac had so much fun walking and marching the whole way.
