Nobody saw that did they. I used direct character and franchise names. Was the newest post for all 6 hours. Dude I’m gonna puke.

Ultimately there are bigger things to worry about regarding m/ghni than the pronouns of a character that may never get released. This is a very minor complaint and I don’t think any more attention should be put on it.

I feel like it’s important to mention that the community also misgendered this character en-masse, especially in 2016 during the Ausgr/s era. I think one of the most popular Ausgr/s blogs just straight up made them a cis man. This is a general problem and not specific to the devs.

Informal discord interview on Christmas 2020, this is her direct statement from a transcript. This was before the misgendering started and before their pronouns were officially changed to they/he (assumedly out of convenience), so the sentiment was always there on some level.

Oof, really hoping that’s not actually the VP or that they’ve changed if they because fuuuck that’s bad 😭
(Then again the official Oliver account is following a sh/tacon and I think has RT’d that content a few times? And replied to a mildly suspicious ask on tumblr. Might be accidental idk)
October 14, 2025 at 6:35 PM
Wait what I wasn’t aware of that? I managed to (possibly) find the identity of one of the other VPs but not that one what the hell
What did they do exactly?
October 14, 2025 at 6:28 PM
Not doing research on artists seems to be a reoccurring problem, at least with VT. They featured st3ampianist in the Oliver 10th anniversary video and it’s like well known that he’s racist and has a Nazi uniform. And I think Oliver__China is run by a sh/tacon? So this might not be a one-time thing.

So in that case, the fault would at least partially fall on the devs for not making themselves aware of this and then getting upset when he did it? Because why would they commission someone who openly uses free beats and expect him to not use a free beat.
October 14, 2025 at 6:04 PM
What likely happened was poor communication. Devs weren’t clear about the terms of the commission and l/ppy wasn’t open with them either. I want to say public opinion was against l/ppy? But idk, it’s all been buried/deleted. This is the only tweet I was able to archive. Make of it what you will.
October 14, 2025 at 5:52 PM
An alarmingly public scuffle between l/ppy and the devs followed. The devs claimed that he lied and that he wasn’t actually a producer, meanwhile l/ppy took down the song and said he didn’t break any rules.
October 14, 2025 at 5:52 PM
Ah the l(a)ppy incident. The whole thing happened very fast and I couldn’t archive most of it, so I’ll be going off of memory here.
The devs commissioned a producer named l/ppy to make Audine’s demo Answer Book. They found out months later that he used a free beat for the song.
October 14, 2025 at 5:52 PM
It was specifically N/talia that said Aurum’s nonbinary label was ‘limiting’ which I find odd? The misgendering only started becoming more prevalent after Saros and Nyl were released and they’re doing just fine aside from some wiki vandalism. So idk why it became a thing with the non-VT devs.
October 14, 2025 at 5:27 PM
Lack of information regarding vocalists might just be an NDA thing, like they’re working on other vocalists but can’t talk about it, especially if it regards 3rd parties. Though that doesn’t explain everything, communication problems seem to be a reoccurring issue judging by the l/ppy situation.
October 14, 2025 at 5:09 PM
I want to see M/ghni succeed, I really do. But the devs need to be more open and address people’s concerns wherever possible if they want to keep the community’s trust. And open discussion is the best way to go about it. I just wish everyone else could see that.
October 14, 2025 at 11:36 AM
Criticism and community input are needed in projects like this, just blindly supporting the devs won’t do any good. I was scared to bring up my concerns until now because of potential blowback (and those concerns were unfortunately validated).
October 14, 2025 at 11:36 AM
The devs shouldn’t be crucified or anything, they just need to have better communication instead of vague statements between months of silence. Despite what others have said, they DO owe it to the backers. This was 40k of other people’s money, that’s not a small amount.
October 14, 2025 at 11:36 AM
Like I said towards the end, I really don’t think the devs are bad people. ‘Scam’ is a strong word and implies malicious intent, which isn’t present in anything I’ve seen. This seems a lot more like a group of people who bit off more than they could chew and are too far into things to back out.
