Just a simple chive flower , we might think… but it’s intricate and beautiful and efficient, and feeds the pollinators, especially the bees. Nothing humble about it!

Today, I pay tribute to Miss Alexandra Colquhoun and Miss Nicola Fearnhead; inspiring and skilful surgeons at Addenbrookes Hospital Cambridge, who led the huge team that saved my life 3rd Sep 2024 in a complex 15.5 hr op. Even on the more difficult days of recovery, I remain so grateful 🙏🏼 #IWD2025

Bloody ridiculous. Of course the visit should go ahead. Its called diplomacy. How would cancelling it help Ukraine?

This little boy goes to school I support in Ethiopia. He reads books bought with foreign aid money. The school will really feel the government’s aid cut. Annaliese Dodds recognises this.

I’ve seen with my own eyes how much help USAID gives in Ethiopia. Kids like these who have nothing. And now even hope is stripped away. Pure evil.

This little crib scene , made of hard plastic is a precious reminder from my childhood and is on display every year. It must be over 60 years old and like me, it is a bit worn and battered around the edges, but still it survives from year to year - Merry Christmas 🎄!

My post-op MRI scan yesterday at Addenbrookes marks my final hospital visit for 2024. I was in hospital every single month in 2024; consultations, scans, diagnosis, operations.Colorectal cancer with advanced pelvic malignancy - and I’d misread all the signs. #bowelcancer
