Also, when he asked about how one wins in this game, Janaki's reply was perfect.

He introduced me to fantasy and sci-fi, so it makes sense.

Truth is, we've gamed before but he doesn't remember b/c of cognitive stuff going on with him

I did this in an old BitD game once. I'll try to find it and share it here later.

Saying, "They say something really awful about your parents. I mean...just gross..."

Is just fine.

"They say some patriarchal sexist nonsense and you can tell they believe it..."

One of the many wonderful things about TTRPG's as a medium is we can zoom in and out.

I do not want to be screamed at. I don't care if that is what your character would do. I don't want people to get pretend angry at me. Why don't method actors ever pretend to be happy and in love? Eff that.

History Everywhere

Bake lore into the chargen process. Ask the players where they were during the 1000 Dukes War or the Devil's Siege.

No lore drops...

Tapestries, shrines, broken statuary, heraldry...bake it EVERYWHERE. Have fun daydreaming about that world. Make it relevant...

Blank Space

Very cool to just have a bit where the players sit for a moment, check their gear, tell stories about home, talk about what they are going to do with the treasure...

Maybe they hear a distant roaring echoing from elsewhere...

Enjoy the quiet little moments...

Question, please.

Performances meaning they talk about their favorite moments recorded in an action play show?

Is there an encounter or room or element in particular that you are excited to watch/listen to them deal with?

I am not talking about a hypothetical person - I mean me.

It might be too on-the-nose for me to run the game and feel safe.

I felt uncomfortable publishing info on how I ran the encounter because I didn't feel like I have the words yet for how to make it a safe endeavor for friends at the table.
