Is the point of asking technically complex questions for which the average person has no facts, to the average person ? I think the gouvernement spends too much, you think it doesn’t. Where does that lead us ?

Tellement :) un jeu simple mais extrêmement drôle à jouer

I’m European and our cultures are somewhat different, but do Americans really feel being asked how your day has been is « good service »? I mean the question is not genuine(especially when being forced to ask), and you’re not gonna start answering truthfully either, so what is the point ?

I forgot it had that score, but what a game 😍

Expensive getting out + lower quality movies (playing it too safe) results in this.

Don’t shoot me, but I kinda miss the old Twitter algorithmic discovery. I would discover a lot of nice content that way. Bluesky is like the old twitter in a lot of ways, but discovery is meh, I feel like I am stuck with the few accounts I follow as opposed to the « window to the world » before

It’s also against international treaties: it’s forbidden to create apatrides, so if US is their only citizenship that’s not possible

Modern tools make it easy for people to confidently expressed what they know nothing about. I love being lectured about what my job is by people who never wrote a line of code or never managed software engineers 😅

The worrying part is that we’ve always assumed the alternative would be worse. I am seriously starting to wonder, to the point I think the EU should hedge its bet

You don’t stand to crash your company if you infuriate a government.
Again, people seem to hope that social media will somehow fix the consequences of poor voting, or failure to adapt laws to modern realities. That’s putting faith in the wrong place, I’m sorry.

Your post is literally “catppuccin is awesome. They give it for free”. I appreciate tweeting is always short, but 50% of your post is about how it’s free. Not open source. Free.

With due respect, it’s easy to have that stance when in practice you have nothing to lose because you are not in this situation. And things have gone so polarised I could find entire pages of people dunking on social media due censoring too much. The “middle” has shifted a lot

For clarity I am not saying social media have zero responsibilities : no one ever mandates to promote eating disorders for instance, the platforms should take very clear stances against that kind of stuff.

Social media are not a substitute for outdated legal system / voting when it matters.
August 1, 2025 at 10:50 AM
Even leadership. The question is that if a government comes at you and says “take down / stop taking down this content, or we shut down your platform in our country, what do you do ? On things like US politics / freedom of speech, what do you do if 50% of your users support that request ?

Well, I have been using open source stuff for roughly 25 years, and I have seen a lot of projects die because of that mentality of “I am entitled things for free”. Also the “I don’t pay for anything” gave is the ads economy (with the loss of privacy associated).
So yeah, I do think it’s a bad take
August 1, 2025 at 10:46 AM
I love catppuccin, but I think your angle is a bit sad : I don’t think it’s a right mental model to expect everything for free, it’s just not realistic. And in the case of news for instance, it has clearly killed the quality of journalism

It’s an easy stance to have when it won’t cost you your job.
Also, being a T&S “person” myself, I know that the impact is in multiple domains, so it’s not one big blob. So called freedom of speech is one angle, we also prevent suicides, prevent scams, etc… which has value for society still.
