DAY 30: The last film you saw in the cinema
PRESENCE (2025)
I'm currently in my poverty era so I don't get to watch films in the cinemas now, but I'm glad my last one was this. A refreshing supernatural drama with effective horror tangents. Quietly moving and haunting.

DAY 29: Your favorite foreign language film
PARASITE (2019)
Basically, this was the film that made me start my own podcast about world cinema. Perfect timing for a near-perfect film. Bong Joon-ho crafts a magnetic piece of political cinema within genre whiplashes. Amazing.

DAY 28: The most visually beautiful film you've ever seen
THE TREE OF LIFE (2011)
I don't think the 11-year-old version of me was ready to witness the transcendental beauty of this spiritual odyssey, but I did. Now I am just longing for the day that I get to see this again.

DAY 27: Your favorite film from the past year
I'M STILL HERE (2024)
Nothing compared to the gut punch of this film, a piece of political cinema that is urgent, assertive, and sharp-edged. With Fernanda Torres' captivating performance, this film stands as my favorite of 2024.

DAY 26: A film you wish you saw in the cinema
NOMADLAND (2020)
PH cinemas only opened late 2021 and I didn't return until early 2023. I could only imagine seeing this inside a cold cinema in the peak of an isolating, depressing pandemic. Would've even been more shattering.

DAY 25: A film that makes you laugh
BOOBA (2001)
So stupid, it's actually intelligent. Politically incorrect in so many ways, and yet, it's this irreverence that makes this hilarious to this day. How was this able to sustain its humor with three sets of mammaries?

DAY 24: A film by your favourite director
KISAPMATA (1981)
Mike de Leon's lacerating precision has always appealed to me and it's evident in his films across various genres, but I do think his prowess is in full display with this grim family crime drama. Watch it ASAP.

DAY 23: Your favorite romantic comedy
SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE (1993)
I don't think this is my favorite genre (take a guess why), but there's something about this film that's incredibly comforting. Longing for someone you haven't met yet? Melancholic Christmas chill? Heck yeah.

DAY 22: A film you like from the 2000s
LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE (2006)
This is one of my ride-or-die films: films that I've proven that I could watch anytime of the day for as many times as I can (seriously). But I bet this would resonate with me even more this time. We'll see.

DAY 21: A musical you like
CHICAGO (2002)
"Like"? Heck, I memorized all of the songs when I was a teenager, the choreography too, and even did some songs at school. Picture me in school uniform doing "I Can't Do It Alone" in class. Of course, I wasn't straight.

I've been job hunting since October, but I lost my main job in March and now I'm running on personal loans just to get by. I'm a breadwinner too so things are really bad rn.
With this, I'm humbly asking for donations/loans from you.

DAY 20: A film with your film soundtrack
THE HOURS (2002)
The beauty of this score (and the film) hasn't changed, but I have. From an optimistic pre-teen to a depressed young adult, I have experienced a shift with how I receive Philip Glass' score. Heart-achingly brilliant.

DAY 19: The worst film you've ever seen
WHEN IN ROME (2010)
It was probably some film I saw on cable, but for something I consciously chose to watch, this probably takes it. What is this film? This fifteen-year-old cinephile found it dreary as heck even at the time. Pffft!
