Those Democrats who are carving up their colleagues for voting to end the shutdown - do they really think the approach of Thanksgiving and, yes, Christmas would compel the Republicans to give in on the medical credits issue? Really? I think Trump would have welcomed holiday chaos.

His sadism knows no limits. The more dead he feels inside, the more cruel he needs to act. Clinically considered, he's the real deal. His pathology is a hard fact.

You're never too old to kiss ass.

And if the order is flouted, um, what happens exactly?

Maybe ICE goons should be greeted by the Nazi salute wherever they show up to make an arrest. They behave like Gestapo agents - they WANT to behave like Gestapo agents - so why shouldn't we raise our right arm in greeting whenever they show up? First Amendment would cover us.

Now that Dick Cheney has set foot on celestial terrain, does St. Peter have to defer to him in matters of heavenly security?

Is there even a remote chance the Court might rule against Trump? Hmm. Such an event could signal the possibility that there is a God after all.

Just another vignette showing Trump's Amerika.

If you ever visit Trump, be sure to have have a copy of Das Kapital under your arm, just for effect.

Could mean? Could mean? Duh?

Phillies needs are contingent on what impact free agency has on them. Could need pitching if Suarez defects; catcher, if Realmuto strays; and slugger if Schwarber goes elsewhere. This off-season could be life or death to the near-dynasty of the past several years. Crossroads, big time!

I think he faded away because he never got himself out of southern California and the Angels. It gave the appearance, the strong appearance, that he was content with the perennial mediocrity of that franchise and his status as a big fish in a small pond. Add to that his never-ending injuries.

There is a kind of sadness dawning on the American consciousness and it is this: Maybe we're not the humane and compassionate people we have always prided ourselves on being. Maybe, in the final analysis, we're no better than anybody else when it comes to knuckling under to a dictatorial regime.

I second the motion.

I don't think there is one member of the news media worthy of being numbered among the elite reporters of even the most recent past. Today's generation are passive, meek, hesitant and, most of all, afraid of Trump's putdowns. Where have you gone, Sam Donaldson...Dan Rather...Tom Brokaw...

Every day a new strain of stupidity enters the cultural bloodstream. This man is so utterly asinine that it's amazing anybody listens to him. I.D. at the grocery store! What rot! What a consummate idiot!

A new version of FDR not on the horizon, although some good potential candidates exist on Dem bench. So far nobody has knocked anybody's socks off. But 2028 is still a long way off (and besides, Trump will conjure up a claim to perpetual presidency, so there may be no election.)

It won't be just Cubs versus Brewers, it'll be former against current managers. Every move will be scrutinized. No subtlety of strategy or tactics will be overlooked by the media. I hope we get five games of contentious second-guessing.

Shutting down the US government is nothing new for Trump. He shut down out democracy way back in January.
October 3, 2025 at 3:21 AM
What could be a better way for the millions of viewers and fans in attendance to witness America's Gestapo in action knocking down rich people who get in the way of their mission to knock down poor people? Who needs well-paid half-time entertainers when TV can show the ICE goons rioting?

Not a good post-season for the state of Ohio. as Reds and Guardians are defeated. Probably didn't really belong anyhow, but just participating pumped up the local fans for a few days.
As the saying goes, "When the half-gods leave, the gods arrive."

Trump loves this brutality. It is so horrific it scares the daylights out of everybody - which is exactly the response he wants. Intimidation psychology. Terrify the whole country. Rule through fear.

The lies get more and more gargantuan.
October 3, 2025 at 2:55 AM
Some umpire calls are so atrocious you have to have a mechanism in play that allows for league intervention in real time to correct them, especially in post-season games.
October 3, 2025 at 2:52 AM
Is it reasonable to assume that at least a handful of those captive generals, admirals and other top brass absorbing the President's rambling and incoherent speech at that military convocation the other day may be genuinely worried that their Commander-In-Chief is cognitively impaired?
