Musician, lover of dogs & soccer, proponent of democracy & bold action on climate change. Don’t blame me, I voted for the laughing lady.
Mamdani is on the left also. Many people on the left have been excoriated for getting chummy with Trump in some way in order to "work with him". It's a valid question that Mamdani should have an answer for. 🤷‍♂️

Yeah, this was entirely transactional and temporary. Trump sees Mamdani coming to see him as a "kissing of the ring". So he'll be nice for a day to make you think he's on your side at some level. But it won't last. Mamdani would have to continue to kiss the ring and he's not gonna do that.

This is the whole "kings" vs. democracy binary in crystalized form. It's clear as day. Make your choice. Do you want autocracy or democracy? In our democracy, public servants owe loyalty to the constitution, not to any president or any other individual.

Whoever green-lighted that feature (probably w/o Elon's knowledge) is probably *so* fired right now.
November 23, 2025 at 5:12 PM
...and probably win comfortably. We should be very cautious about fantasies that a Dem flips MTG's district. Gotta try though.

Whitmer had the misfortune of being misled w/o her knowledge into that MAGA press conference. But otherwise - same thing. Both went there to advocate for their constituents, & both received plaudits from Trump. I like Mamdani, & he's charismatic & naturally likeable, but this is a double standard.

We should not be surprised. Russia was already heavily invested in this kind of psy op in the lead-up to the 2016 election - amplifying splits in the D party, hacking the DNC, etc. I don't know how awareness of this can still be so low. We are such easy marks. /2
November 23, 2025 at 4:53 PM
Sure, that's the recipe on Twitter. But we should also be aware - there are foreign based trolls (especially Russia) on Bluesky acting as "left" accounts & amplifying anti-Dem sentiment. These foreign influence ops work 2 ways - pump up MAGA & also divide & denigrate Dems, posing as left accounts./1

Actually I think it's a fair question because every time a prominent D "works with" Trump on anything or even says anything along those lines they get hammered for being weak & an apologist. Gov Whitmer was hammered by the left for visiting Trump to do the same thing - advocate for her constituents.

Yep, and as long as it’s in service of fascism / autocracy / oligarchy and anti-democracy, Elon is quite pleased with it.
November 23, 2025 at 4:03 PM
Yeah that’s not remotely an answer to the question.
November 23, 2025 at 3:53 PM
Sadly that’s pretty much “same” for just about any of these Trump administration lackeys: Bessent, Homan (oh my god), Lutnick, and on down the line. They are deeply repugnant, mendacious, condescending, and incompetent. Otherwise they’re fine!
November 23, 2025 at 3:51 PM
He’s a sham. Wow!
November 23, 2025 at 3:39 PM
They are pernicious because they amplify sentiment that might be there organically at a lesser mass but boost it to create a gaslighting effect and it snowballs.

Might have been better for the holder to glance over to see where he was throwing to instead of more or less tossing it over his shoulder like he was throwing a banana peel into a dumpster.

Reagan: "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!"
Rubio: "Mr. Putin, what font should I use for your 'peace plan'".

It's the only major paper that I still subscribe to. Dumped the WaPo hard a while ago even before it started to really bend the knee.
November 23, 2025 at 5:25 AM
Can we have that feature for BlueSky now, please? I want to know how many posters on here (particularly the people constantly and viciously maligning Democrats) are foreign accounts. I suspect there are influence ops on here to try to turn people on the left against the Dem party.
November 23, 2025 at 5:13 AM
Damn it, OK, I guess I'll have to listen to Massie talk. :-)
November 23, 2025 at 5:06 AM
Yep. Scientific "orthodoxy" is "orthodox" because the scientific method has been applied. "Challenging scientific orthodoxy" is simply "anti-science".
