New research out from friends at @pestakeholder.bsky.social shows that private equity firms own 10% of all apartment units across the United States, and upwards of 20% of all apartments here in Georgia, the highest share of any state

Not sure if I've got any friends in Pittsburgh who don't already know about this, but I'll be giving a talk at Pitt this Friday, 4/11 at 10:30am on my research into the geographies of absentee housing ownership in Atlanta. Come thru if you can!

This tidbit about the connections between different segments of the housing market through their shared private equity owners is a pretty apt example of the kind of stuff we're actually up against, and what having an appropriate lens helps one to see and understand

Some of my dearest friends & family live in California, but if your analysis of housing starts and stops there, I'm really not interested in anything you have to say

So the dipshit libertarian economists are still out here calculating rates of institutional ownership based on inconsistent denominators and claiming it's definitive proof that corporate landlords aren't a problem 🙄

One of a couple ironic things about this signage on GSU's campus is that the only thing preventing people from enjoying the campus greenway has been the as-yet-unfinished construction on a full half of it (pictured in background) that has been ongoing since the Fall semester 🙄

Given that ShotSpotter may be the only policing technology that Atlanta *doesn't* employ, let's take a quick look at how Louisville shapes up when comparing their distribution to the city's racial geographies... 🧐🤔😑

What's going on with the Kansas-Oklahoma border that the value of a half-court shot fluctuates by 1000%?
