Only a small percentage of wind/solar energy is stored. Electric utilities need to supplement all wind/solar with electricity from either natural gas turbines or coal & nuclear plants. However, I do agree that the energy secretary is a moron.

I wrote about this in Our Own Worst Enemy, this thirst for drama. (Or as George Will calls it, a "hunger for apocalypse.") Defending democracy is often dull and repetitive and involves simple things like showing up and voting in *every* election. But that's not enough for White Rose wannabes. /2

As one who grew up & lives in the northern plains, its a combination of 80 yrs of US military, diplomatic & economic strength, strong social services safety net, and that we are the population majority. Also, 30 yrs of FOX & Rush BS.
