When I was a baby, my Mom cross stitched this Jim Elliot quote, which, sadly, I lost track of. She and my dad came and visited me this weekend and surprised me by re-framing it. I'll hang it in my home office, when I have one. It's one of my treasures.

It's hard for me not to get sad in the Fall as the days get darker. In a way, it's an act of discipline to find joy in the amazing colors God offers at this time. I got to do that on a walk with my wife today. I do love this piece of Earth where I get to live. I hope you saw some amazing colors too.

If you're looking for a good book to read, can I recommend "I Cheerfully Refuse," by Leif Enger? One of the most hopefully post-apocalyptic stories you'll come across. www.leifenger.com/i-cheerfully...

Halfway to 90 as of today. Maybe the Geburtstagsvesper from my in-laws will help me go the distance. 🍇🍷 Prost everyone! Deeply grateful for each of my years.

Our creative local gelato shop made pumpkin-seed ice cream and it is UH-MAZE-ING. Pairs well with dark chocolate.

Back from the States and so happy to see my Swabian wife again. She had a proper Naturtrüb ready, which we enjoyed on the porch. How are y'all doing?

My town put together an exhibit telling stories of refugees living here. Thrilled that my friend Yashar got to tell his story as part of it. I love especially his musings about "Heimat."
