Now, these kids get the full package — refurbished donated bikes, new helmets, bright lights, secure locks, and 12 hours of hands-on instruction to help them ride confidently and safely. 3/5

Are secret police officers in other regimes typically as incompetent as ICE and CBP seem to be?

Perhaps our nation is specially endowed with bozo officers. Or is it just that their buffoonery is what gets posted here?

Checked out the DoT's announcement. Was offered a survey so I could comment on the website. Offered a suggestion on how my experience could be improved: "Present true science and straightforward accounting of what the Department is doing...." 1/

Male entitlement and white male entitlement seems a principal part of many social and economic issues in North America, along with our fear (men's fear) of losing even a small part of the privileges we're used to.

I agree. Every city need to figure out how to resist. We have 3 examples of how cities are responding, though:

LA: We will fight you.

Chicago: We will fight you.

Portland, OR: We will subject you to endless hours of improv theater and interpretive dance until you relent and leave us alone.

Security issues? Really? Driving or riding a motorized coffin, even a honkin' SUV, runs a far greater risk of traffic crashes than riding a bus or street car.

And don't those risks dwarf the risks associated in some minds with transit? Those of political or interclass violence.

OSU and ODoT have put up some good cycling infrastructure in Corvallis. This would be the first protected intersection built by @cityofcorvallis.bsky.social (Unless the plans for Circle & Highland get built first.)

Email Public Works with gratitude. 3/3

One concept for consideration: a crossing of 9th St. at Beca Ave. See the current idea at www.corvallisoregon.gov/sites/defaul...

This could include > a block of cycle track (instead of on-street sheet metal storage), protected cycling infrastructure, a median refuge, and a flashing beacon. 2/
