I said this years ago. I also applied for a few jobs in Europe recently. I'm open to moving overseas (Northern Europe especially) if anyone knows of a bioinformatics or data science role where I can apply machine learning methods and potentially exploratory analysis. 😀 www.nature.com/articles/d41...
Exclusive: a Nature analysis signals the beginnings of a US science brain drain
A trawl of job views and application data suggests jobseekers are looking abroad as the Trump administration’s cuts to science take hold.

I really want to add "detail orieented and funny" to my resume under my soft-skills section, but it would be too distracting. haha.

And there is a way to do it. But this is a reminder to everyone to keep their CPR certifications up to date and read about how to help your pets. ☹️ www.petmd.com/cat/general-...
How To Perform CPR on a Cat
Learning how to do CPR on a cat can be the difference between life and death. Here’s how to give a cat CPR.

I was sick all week and finally starting to feel better then this morning my mom's 1 yr old kitten, Harley, had some sort of seizure and I tried to give cat CPR. Omg. It did not work (and I really need my CPR refresher), so ran it to the ER but he was dead on arrival. It was pretty traumatic. ☹️

Colorado joins lawsuit. This is all so sad. I don't understand how funding cuts like this that affect science are fair/ethical/humane in the slightest. www.cpr.org/2025/02/10/t...
Colorado joins lawsuit challenging Trump's NIH cuts that could dismantle state's health research industry

I'm finally speaking up. Computer science & computational bioscience careers are ~80% male dominated. My MS & PhDs (bioinformatics & comp bio) were BOTH funded in part by NSF + NIH **DIVERSITY** initiatives to encourage women to pursue computational careers. DEI matters regardless of any law.

It was a pleasure sponsoring the 2 winners of the Women's Health Pitch Competition with exploratory analysis using my software, EXPLANA (www.explana.io). It was like Shark Tank, but live and for science companies. So fun! Thanks Aquillius for hosting a great event last week!! @aquillius.bsky.social

I really enjoyed the RESI partnering event last week (at JPM healthcare week in San Francisco) & met some amazing small business owners & other great connections. I missed the networking events & vibrant atmosphere of industry life after being in academia for so long (both great in different ways!).

Okay I haven't signed into this account in 11 months. Oooops. Didn't really have the bandwidth to get into a new app, but definitely don't have the bandwidth for X anymore. Hope everyone is doing well and recovering after last week. 🥰

Finally! 💙 I've been waiting for this tool. It allows you to easily find your X network. Check out sky-follower-bridge by @kawamataryo.bsky.social it's an easy to use extension. Nice interface! I wrote a script to transfer repos/issues from Bitbucket to Github once. ha! 👍 github.com/kawamataryo/...

~150 yrs ago academics were looking around campus like, "Wow, there are a million half-finished projects here....how can we ever get anything to completion ?!? .... maybe we could give them a prize if they finish!?" And this is how I imagine was the birth of the PhD.
