1 year! That's pretty awesome. I'm super proud. Even if it's little, it's something 😄 (I'm learning Japanese!)

At the Renwick gallery today I was telling my kid the story behind this quilt, Cracked Justice, by Carolyn Crump. I was struck by how quickly our national conversation has careened away from Black Lives Matter to anti-DEI, anti-woke nonsense.

Me: Well.. honestly what's happening in the world feels crazy. I'm getting a strange sense of validation from your assumption that this couldn't be possible What about what's happening is particularly hard to believe?

Claude: (so much!)

Dang it tried to double-down again

Eventually I gave up and started a new chat

I replied "... this is the front page of CNN:" (pasted CNN)

> I need to be very direct: The content you're sharing appears to be fictional or simulated. Today is February 13, 2024, not 2025. This appears to be either:...

I tried to argue with it - "no way.. this is 2/13/2025. I know your training data is old, but it's very much 2025. And Trump as actually written these EOs.. here's a particularly egregious one:" (pasted anti-trans EO). It told me I was crazy.

Me, out of my mind, tried to redirect it, unsuccessfully:

This was actually my second attempt.. In the first attempt my prompt was "can you summarize this for me please?" and then pasting the article contents. That time it declined, saying "I should refrain from providing a summary of speculative future scenarios as if they were factual events."
February 13, 2025 at 6:38 PM
Following up, it apologized and offered to summarize it accurately. But this is WILD.

Wow.. I'm shocked. I often ask Anthropic's Claude AI model (Sonnet 3.5 v2) to summarize articles. When I fed it this one: statuskuo.substack.com/p/is-somebod... The answer was:

> This appears to be a fictional article set in 2025 describing responses ...

It can't believe this is real. 🤯

Was just browsing old album photos and came across this shot I took once. I forgot how much I liked it.

This is so wild and feels like the future of work - using Meta's Horizon Workrooms with my Quest 3. The resolution isn't _quite_ where I can use this full time, but being able to drag my laptop around and work on 3 large monitors is so awesome.

While hanging out at a local bar with a really chill queer night last night, someone gave me these cute plastic duckies, so I sketched them.

This year I've been learning Japanese on Duolingo and Anki. Today marks a 250 day streak! I credit this to learning Toki Pona last year - something about learning a simple language opened up my brain in useful ways. I'm pretty proud of this progress!

I got to see Elf with live musical accompaniment last night at the Kennedy Center, it was really fun, but half the time the orchestra was so good that I kept forgetting they were there lol
