T&T are now a pariah state, a tool of empire from which to wage imperialist wars. They have betrayed the region.

I largely took a break from the news over the weekend; just catching up on Brown University and Bondi beach now.

Sometimes I wonder what I'd do if I was completely free. I think I'd study nature. Learn art & music. Garden. Explore. I'd get back to science. Meditate. Really get into as good shape & health as I could.

Not content with cold blooded murder, the American empire is turning to crude piracy. They are a threat not just to our region but to all humanity and the planet itself.

My thinking is that Europe should assume the US is no longer a partner, in practical terms, & look to ensure the defense of Europe (& Ukraine) sans the US; & begin preparations to counter both a hostile Russia & the US in the longterm.

Jonathan Starling: Disability and activism
Last month the Government marked the beginning of Disability History Month, which goes from November 20 to December 20. And Wednesday, December 3 was the International Day of Persons with Disabilities...

I find Infantino's approach to Trump infantile, & as a result, yes, I'll watch the Scottish games & the final, but otherwise I'll largely ignore World Cup 2026 - unless it somehow morphs into an antifascist resistance movement.

I don't like that YouTube is giving me an AI annual summary, but apparently I only use it for Romanian pop music, philosophy lectures, recipes and gardening videos.

I remember the 2012 election when the PLP platform proposed a comprehensive plan to deal with feral chickens. They were ridiculed, the OBA came to power, & nothing was done on the chickens. Today, the PLP, back in power, is blasted for not having dealt with the chickens...

I love football. I'm not a fanatic, but it's part if who I am. Especially the Euros & the Workd Cup. But the way FIFA is brown nosing fascism is turning me off considerably.

And there will still be a lot of people who'll deny that Trump is a white supremacist and fascist.

When the Your Party UK was launched I was excited. However, at this point I feel the left should just rally under the UK Green Party, pushing for ecosocialism in order to avoid splits.

About Israel, democracy and homonationalism
November 29 is the international day of solidarity with the Palestinian people — a day that has been observed since 1977. This year, it will be observed during a nominal ceasefire — I say nominal beca...

I suspect one of the reasons the Americans are looking to provoke Venezuela is so they can invoke war powers to both imprison all Venezuelan immigrants to the US (like the Japanese in WW2) & to crush protests.

When I was a soldier it was made clear that we shouldn't follow illegal orders. That's not controversial, it's like basic training.

The Americans are delusional to think they'll be welcomed as liberators in Venezuela. Sure, there's always some people who welcome invaders. But the vast majority of people anywhere don't take kindly to invasions.

To me this informs my approach to unions & parties. More specifically re leaders & led. An activist union/party, with an engaged membership, is always superior to one where members default to leadership.
One key lesson I take from my years of activism is that in being an activist one produces oneself. This is true of any action, of course. But in the course of activism, whatever the entry point, one learns about the systems of oppression & the value of solidarity.

I have no illusions that the Trump regime will still look to undermine Mamdani. However, the key takeaway for me is that it's always far better to stick to your principles rather than engage in anticipatory obedience.

I find it amusing that the word 'private' can, in plural, refer to genitalia, while the word 'public' has an etymology related to 'pubes' in the sense of pubic hair, as in adult.
