Not sure if this is exactly the same issue you’re having, but I had a lot of preview crashes with Xcode 16 and occasionally saw the canvas break like this. I have had good luck with enabling Editor->Canvas->Use Legacy Previews Execution.

100 days of Swift is a fantastic way to start learning. However you could also check out Swift Playgrounds from Apple. It’s available on MacOS or if you have an iPad with a keyboard. You can complete a gamified course in coding basics in Swift. You write code that moves a character to solve puzzles.
