Think it’s really important IF this ever ends that we prosecute the folks involved including Hegseth. We either have laws or we don’t.

The zero sum solution is for immediate R only racial gerrymandering in a 2-3 month window next year. I think that assumes for a lot of decisions by people that might have additional incentives. Triggering an immediate racially motivated cracking of minority political power could have other impacts.

My point is a liberal democracy with generally free and fair elections promoting capitalism and stability is fair superior to totalitarian fascist/communist/monarchist systems that were pervasive the first half of the century

The US isn’t perfect but I still think it’s a net positive compared to the alternatives the past 80 years. The internment was bad. The bombings helped avoid more death from an invasion and it’s unknowable what would’ve happened if we didn’t intervene in Europe.

% wise that’s probably a good thing that middle class workers are moving into the upper income bucket. The problem is … I would guess the gap between middle and high income workers has dramatically increased since 1971.

2026 elections feels like it’s got a good chance to be similar to 2014 mid terms. Out of power party is a bit rudderless and not popular but incumbent has waning enthusiasm. Wouldn’t surprise me if it’s a generally low turnout midterm with funky results.

This notion that the past was stable and we’re currently living in unprecedented times is nostalgic wishcasting. The 90s also had Waco and Ruby Ridge. We just didn’t have social media to melt everyone’s collective brains for each event.
