On Day 1 Michael Meadowcroft explored the importance of #liberal politics in terms of the past vibrancy of local government. Michael noted that 1948 was the high point of municipal government in Britain, with public authorities owning gas, electricity, housing, airports, schools, and FE provision. 🔶️
