I spent several days in Izium. The first major building that was under repair after occupation. It sits on the town square, next to the destroyed regional hospital. You can see it’s the same building from the scaffolding and construction materials. My heart aches for Izium.

Correx:

Liberal: bust out all the emergency kits and let’s start getting aid.

MAGA: fuck em. Probably deserved it.

I take some personal pride in seeing this when I look for the GNL here.

What a feckless moron.

Buckle up buttercup. Gonna be a hell of 4-year ride. Avoid windfalls, friends.

Awww, I’m so butthurt. So a fake “legion”/“ngo”/who-knows-wtf-grifters have blocked me on here. Scuse me while I laugh at the Mamuka who cries wolf.

We gave them a few hours of hope in a difficult time. And we gave them pizzas. We know the pies wvould not go to waste. They would be shared at home, with friends and family. After all, it was a change from stews and root vegetables many have been living on for three years. 8/9

People were happy to see us. Many, in a display of Ukrainian disgnity, would dress up for the occassion. Even the most hard off women managed to find their best, yet threadbare, clothes that were fashionable twenty years ago. But what matters is we gave back more than food. 7/9

So we show up, and we stayed. We played dance music. Some of us danced while we worked. We gave trinkets to children, did face-painting and took selfies with families. And if you could get a Babushka to smile - bonus points. We stayed, and spending a few hours with each community. 6/9

Which is why our lines were open. Anyone could get a pizza. And if you were polite and queued back in line, you could have as many pizzas as we could cook. Two trucks had six gas-fired pizza ovens each. Some Babushkas and children would gather up a dozen pies to take home. 5/0

Previous aid runs with other NGOs meant driving to a community where a bunch of people gathered in a sheltered area, handing out bags with an appropriate checkmark, and we left. You can tell by their faces nobody wanted to be there. Nobody wants to ask for food. 4/9

In some communities, it felt as if we weren't needed but helped local politicians "look good"; others were a half hour drive down dirt roads, impassable when wet, with a single general store with mostly empty shelves. Not our job to judge. Our mission was to feed and bring hope - a little break. 3/9

It may sound silly - going to remote villages with a freezer truck of personal frozen pizzas, setting up a PA system for music, and then spending up to 5 hours cooking and serving pizzas to Ukrainians of all types. Last year, were in the liberated villages in the east. This year, more central 2/9

Finally spent an afternoon going through a few days of photographs from my last trip to Ukraine. With the exception of a few snapshots, I wanted my photos to showcase the Ukrainians who would gather to eat the pizza we brought to their remote communities. 🧵 1/9

Edward Teller was a Manhattan project scientist and later known as the father of the thermonuclear (fusion) bomb.

As a scientist, he was well aware of the risks carbon emissions created for our atmosphere; its been long understood and concerning.

This is Teller from 1957:

#54FF41/R3DN053 is up for this year's sleigh endurance test. With increased fuel capacity (GMO oats), larger payload and stealthy anti-creosote coatings for survivability over eastern Europe and Yemen, Cpt. Claus expressed full confidence in his craft and crew with a Ho-Ho-Ho.

US RQ-4 #AE5421 as FORTE10 made a brief sortie up to Lithuania and around the southern border of Königsberg before RTB. An unusually short mission. It also changed squawks several times, finishing its mission under a code used for Continental NORAD use (7575)

Either Trump is single-handedly trying to bring back the flock-of-seagulls hairstyle, or he’s growing horns.

Pretty much the same, really.

While an RAF RC-135 (#43C39D/RRR7213) takes off on its mission, it appears one of the US TC-135 Rivet Joint trainers (#AE01D3, 62-4129/MAVRK29) has been in the UK and is likely returning to Offutt.

Busy a busy morning. Nine C-17s. All but one landed at Ramstein. Oddly, a C5M headed towards Romania then returned towards Ramstein in midair. List of the C-17's in response. 1/2
