Yep. It referred to your "It's the fascism, stupid" episode. I learnt a lot from it.

Started listening to your podcast yesterday after a mention on @originstorypodcast.bsky.social @iandunt.bsky.social @dorianlynskey.bsky.social. Great stuff so far.

This must be the first time next season's community shield opponents have played each other in the league, knowing that fact.

Genuine question: Why do some of your fellow doctors say/think that obesity is not a chronic disease, when bodies like the WHO and the NHS state that it is? Is it a contrarian attitude, do they question the underlying data, unwillingness to update their priors..?

Or more complex than a binary def?

Audience capture, or good old fashioned greed?

Looks like Ewok is back on the menu, boys!

I love it when people on social media make a statement like FPTP actively enables the fascists. Are then shown that in the last election PR would have given Reform 20X more real political power. And then change subject, and when asked for some kind of evidence, come up with 'source: trust me, bro.'
May 15, 2025 at 10:38 AM
That's fine. But your position is not evidence based; it is an opinion, which I respect, but don't need to address.
May 14, 2025 at 3:57 PM
I was addressing your assertion that FPTP is enabling the fascists, by stating that the like of Reform would be doing 20x better electorally under PR.

I understand you want PR, and think it'd be fair for Reform to have those 100 MPs.

But then don't say that it's FPTP that is the enabling factor.
May 14, 2025 at 3:13 PM
In the last election, Reform won five seats with FPTP. Under PR they would have won 100.
May 14, 2025 at 2:27 PM
Well done. You'll love it here.

At this point, I think keeping out the fascists is a more emergent concern than voting reforms.

Where are you going to be doing you postgrad here?
May 14, 2025 at 9:33 AM
I don't listen, but I imagine the appeal is the level of cognitive ease felt by the listeners when hearing Attia's usual spiel...

Fools and their money...

I want electoral reform too.

I hope the likes of Trump et al will deliver that kind of Reform.
May 5, 2025 at 9:36 AM
I agree that Labour need to court that vote, 100%.

But there is a huge responsibilty for the voters too, not just the parties.

A non-vote can be an amazingly powerful thing.

If one thinks that Farage ultimately gaining power is better an insipid Labour, then fair enough.

But that terrifies me.
May 5, 2025 at 9:00 AM
I agree the Dems needed to do a much better job.

But the left of the electorate who decided to stay at home (or vote Stein) to drive that point home basically handed that non-vote to Trump, and a have a big hand in his win.

Farage is clearly counting on doing the same here.
May 5, 2025 at 8:51 AM
I agree with your unhappiness on what Labour are doing here. But isn't this 'Bernie or bust' thinking the kind of thing that leads to the likes of Trump?
