Also, Taylor Swift was successful with the Eras tour where a) fewer tix were scalped and b) those that were were from new accounts, not pro scalpers.

This clip reminds me of an Alan Alda book I just listened to this week (If I understood you, would I have this look on my face? My Adventures in the Art and Science of Relating and Communicating) which was all about the topics of jargon and empathy.

It’s mostly people sized, with more indie restaurants than franchises compared to growing up in Winnipeg. Bacchus Books in Golden is nice too, and there’s a really great used book store (The Book Place) in downtown Kamloops that is filled to the brim with stacks of books waiting to jump out at you.

There’s a really great book store (Fable Book Parlour) in my small town (Revelstoke) which has a very full service website in terms of having just about every book (including their used books) listed, even if they can’t get it in. The price is the same as Amazon for most things.

I know it’s not the whole story, but to a very large degree, the reason the “algorithms love to encourage the worst stuff” is because people respond to it.
